Halifax is where we are based, and the peninsula is a renovation market of its own — South End and North End homes largely built before the 1930s, wood framed, often with plaster and lath, knob-and-tube still turning up behind walls, and floor plans laid out when kitchens were meant to be closed off. Off the peninsula the stock changes completely, from Clayton Park apartments and post-war bungalows out to newer subdivision builds. The two ends of that market need very different work, and we do both.
HRM covers everything from exposed harbour-front lots to sheltered inland subdivisions, and the housing runs from pre-1930 peninsula stock to builds finished last year. Weather barrier and flashing
Housewrap and drainage plane installed with laps running the right way, then flashing at every opening, penetration and transition. This is the part that does the work.

Cladding and trim
Cladding fastened to high-wind specification, then soffit, fascia and trim detailed — followed by a full site cleanup including a magnet sweep for fasteners.

It does when it is fastened for the exposure. Most storm failures are installation failures — nails driven too tight so panels cannot move, spacing at the minimum instead of the high-wind schedule, or missing starter and J-channel detail. We install to the manufacturer high-wind specification, which is what the warranty depends on anyway.
Yes, and noticeably within a few kilometres of open water. Standard electro-galvanized fasteners corrode, stain the cladding and eventually stop holding. We use stainless or hot-dip galvanized on coastal exposures. It is a small share of the job cost and it is the difference between cladding that stays on and cladding that does not.
We stop, photograph it, show you, and price the repair before covering it. We do not quietly cover damaged sheathing, and we do not treat it as an automatic blank cheque either — you see the extent and decide. Building in a contingency for this on any re-side over about thirty years old is realistic.
